These decorative bulbs, popular though they were, were deemed to be too inefficient by the European Union and subsequently banned in February 2016.
For those of you already lamenting the demise of these bulbs - never fear. Their enduring popularity led Crompton to develop this new range of LED equivalents.
Each bulb in the range delivers form and function equally with the same gorgeous, retro styling no longer stymied by the restraints of outdated filament technology.
The tungsten filaments found in these older bulbs have given way to four LED filaments, resulting in a gorgeous, traditional aesthetic that belies the bulb's ultra-modern specification. These filaments, albeit similar in appearance, are much more efficient and robust than their traditional counterparts. Where a traditional bulb might use approximately 25W to produce 250 lumens, these modern LED bulbs use just 6W. This - coupled with the bulb's vastly superior nominal lifetime of 15,000 hours - has the potential to reduce lighting bills by up to 90%.
The antique-bronze finish applied to this G80 globe bulb lends it an extra warm white colour that really reinforces its vintage aesthetic, particularly when the bulb is dimmed to lower levels.
What are Antique Filament Bulbs?
Elegant yet industrial, intricate yet masculine, antique filament bulbs evoke the memory of Edison's early design and recreate the aesthetic of the Victorian age. Hung from the ceiling in exposed clusters or used in singular, shaded fittings, these bulbs manage to be both simple and sophisticated with the raw beauty of the filament elevated to the fore of their design.
Compatible with both leading and trailing edge dimmers*. For indoor use only.
This LED Globe Light Bulb is compatible with most dimmer switches, but please refer to the manufacturers website for an up-to date list of compatible dimmer switches.
If you should purchase an LED light bulb from Lightbulbs Direct and have it fail, break or develop a fault at any point within the timeline stated above of the date of receipt, we will happily replace the item or offer a full refund, depending on your wishes.
In instances where large numbers of bulbs fail within a relatively short period of time, we may ask you to return them to us so that they can undergo testing to identify any potential issues.
In addition to Lightbulbs Direct warranty, this product is also covered by a manufacturer's warranty for a period of 5 years from date of receipt. Please visit the manufacturer's website https://www.cromptonlamps.com/AdditionalDepartments/Footer-Content/Limited-Warranty for further details.
In any instance where your bulb has developed a fault, we will do our utmost to replace it or offer a full refund (provided the item is still within its stated warranty period). However, if it becomes apparent that the product has been misused, tampered with or modified in any way, we will view this as having voided its warranty.
'Misuse" includes, but is not limited to, incorrect operation by the user, use of non-dimmable bulbs on a dimmable circuit or connection to or operation with an unsuitable power supply. 'Tampering' or 'modification' can be interpreted as any activity designed to alter the product in such a way that it can be used in a manner that wasn't intended by its original design. This can include rewiring, removing plugs, home repairs or changing components. Unfortunately, we won't be able to replace any item that has undergone any such process.
