Small businesses in Derby can apply for a grant of up to £10,000 to make their lighting and heating more energy efficient.

Derby council and the European Regional Development Fund is offering 5 businesses the chance to receive grant support. Derby council already offer certain companies in the area smaller grants and advice for energy efficiency. Businesses who receive the higher grant will still be eligible for the second. The only businesses that can not receive the grant is in the retail industry.

Deputy Leader of the council and cabinet member for planning, environment and regeneration, Martin Rawson, said:

We recognise the vital role that small businesses play in Derby and the challenges they face in keeping costs down, particularly for energy. This competition is an incredible opportunity to get financial support, help and advice to make your business more energy efficient and save money and carbon in this process.
